Wandering Sage Tes-Her-Les and the Shark Breeders
Wandering Sage Tes-Her-Les in her wanderings in the West came upon a certain village. When she visited this village's medium to make propitiations for fishing, the medium said "I grant you propitiations to fish, but do not fish in the Sunward pens, there are sharks therein."
The Great Sage asked: "Your village is rich, with a good many lively pens and many young fishers. Why do you not draw your sharks to the surface with chum and kill them as others do?"
The medium replied: "Great Sage, our village is rich and we could easily kill the sharks if we wished. But in our village we keep sharks as our most prized livestock, even above hunting-porpoises. We are breeding them for size and cleverness, and when the time is right we will release them into the pens of our enemies to slay them."
The Great Sage understood the medium's meaning. At once, she flew high into the clouds and drew forth the Earth-calling Dart. The village of the shark breeders was destroyed in an instant by the bellows of the earth and there were no survivors.
COMMENTARY BY MIWS-MIWS NE AS LONS: The Great Sage was treated kindly and even fed, but we do not say she violated guest-right or committed murder. Did she act in this case as a youth guardian? As a [palliative care nurse]?
